- French Details - Each French matting design is created to match and enhance your artwork and every watercolor in our palette is mixed by hand. The mats can be as simple as a few lines or become more elaborate with washed panels, marbled papers, and gilded lines.
- Gilded bevels - Gilded bevels can be the perfect accent to a custom gilded frame. We expose a hand-gilded mat that has been perfectly toned to match the frame.
- Hand Wrapped Fabric Mats -
For something more elegant and formal, we recommend using a wrapped silk mat. For a perfectly finished presentation, our hand-wrapped mats leave no exposed cut edges. A double-thick, wrapped mat can provide artistic depth to your artwork.
- Glass Mats -
Glass matting, also known as Eglomisé, is the process of painting a border onto the back side of the glass. It is a unique and beautiful way to border your artwork.
The type of glass you select is the only barrier to protect your artwork from damage caused by light, moisture, and environmental pollutants. We carry all standards of glazing in our shop, from basic glass to UV filtering Plexiglas. For exceptional quality, we also provide laminated, double paned, reflection free, and Museum Glass.
We provide conservation and restoration services for all of our clients and offer specialized conservators for each type of art. If you bring us an oil painting, a canvas specialist will restore the artwork’s original luster. If you bring us an etching, a paper conservator will remove the signs of aging and water damage. We also offer expert repair and restoration of antique and contemporary frames. There are no shortcuts at Prints, etc..
We have created framed displays ranging from 16th Century French tapestries to the jerseys of famous athletes. Each type of fabric must be handled individually in order to showcase their unique qualities. Our staff understands the complexity of care that is required to properly protect your treasured textiles.
Objects can be framed in either a deep shadowbox or a custom made acrylic box. We can also design specialized mountings for objects in order to display them at their very best.
We provide a complete custom mirror service. From the frame, to the mirror itself, you need go no further than Prints, etc..
There is difference between the frame you get at your average frame shop and a closed corner frame from Prints, etc.. When a closed corner frame is made, it starts off as four legs of raw moulding. The gilding or finish of the frame is applied after the raw moulding has been joined. By doing this, there will be no visible seam in the corners of the frame. As well, because each closed corner frame is made to the specifications of your order, the frame is guarantied to be a perfect match for your art. Our selection of frames include gilded frames, wood frames, welded frames, custom painted frames, and even hand-wrapped leather frames from Peru.
- Water Gilded Frames - The tradition of the creation and use gilded frame is centuries old. From the finely carved mouldings, to each painstakingly laid leaf of gold, there is nothing quite as elegant as a gilded frame. Our selection of gilded frames is rivaled by no shop this side of the Mississippi. The frame selection covers every period of style from the 15th century, until today’s modern designs.
- Custom Wood Frames - We offer our clients a selection of almost any type of wood imaginable. For example, we carry quarter-sawn white oak, which is traditionally used in the construction of American Craftsman period frames. We also maintain a wonderful selection of maple mouldings, which can be finished to convey a clean, modern look or the look of a distressed antique frame. Whatever style of frame you select, we make sure that the grain, color, and finish will be consistent throughout the frame.
- Welded Frames - A unique design accent for the many lofts here in San Francisco is the welded frame. A welded steel frame, adorning a mirror or select artwork, can add interest and excitement to any room or choice of décor. We have a wide array of sizes and finishes to select from in our specialized line of welded frames.
- Custom Painted Frames - We pride ourselves in custom finishing frames to match an exact color that has been requested by you, our discerning client. All we need is a color chip or a manufacturer’s color number and we will professionally match it for you.

- In stock mouldings -We carry a large selection of mouldings in our shop to provide you with a timely solution to your framing needs. Having these mouldings in stock means that your project can be completed quickly, without sacrificing the finished look of the framed art. We feel it is important that all of our work lives up to the high standards of Prints, etc..
We have hundreds of prints to browse through in our gallery. We feature botanical, architectural, and animal prints, as well scenics and portraitures. We also have a selection of original art, and many framed mirrors on display our gallery.
Sometimes the ideal design is best created by personally visiting the site for the artwork’s display. We are happy to schedule an appointment to assist you in choosing the best design for your project .
